Deborah Dodge will join ɬ�﷬ as the new ombudsperson beginning on Monday, Dec. 2, 2024. Deborah brings a wealth of experience in conflict resolution, mediation, and fostering inclusive environments, having served in various roles in higher education, most recently as the university ombudsperson at Central Michigan University. She holds a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University and has earned the Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner (CO-OP®) credential through the International Ombuds Association. 

President Anne F. Harris said, “Ombuds services play a vital role in creating a supportive and responsive campus environment. Having an experienced, trusted professional to guide our community through complex conversations and conflicts fosters our ability to uphold ɬ�﷬’s core values of equity, inclusion, and mutual respect. We are thrilled to welcome Deborah Dodge to this important role and look forward to the positive impact her presence and partnerships will have on our community.” 

In her role at ɬ�﷬, Deborah will serve as a confidential, impartial resource for faculty, staff, and students, helping to resolve conflicts and navigate challenges related to campus life. The Ombuds office provides resources for all members of our community to address their concerns and work toward solutions, in line with the ethical principles of confidentiality, informality, impartiality, and independence.

Deborah’s extensive background in conflict resolution and organizational dynamics includes years of experience working directly with diverse campus populations and a nuanced understanding of unique challenges within higher education. Deborah’s collaborative approach focuses on empowering individuals to navigate conflicts with confidence and clarity. Her expertise in fostering inclusive, respectful environments will help reinforce community ties and ensure that all voices are heard and respected as ɬ�﷬ continues to build a supportive and open campus culture.
